Equal Opportunity is nondiscrimination. It is the absence of discriminatory conditions, a neutral environment or situation in which each individual is assessed on the basis of merit, and impermissible criteria such as personal characteristics are not used. It is a violation of state and federal law and University policy to be treated differently, harassed, or in any other way discriminated against on the basis of any legally prohibited factor.
